THREAD VEIN REMOVAL
What is Thread Vein Removal?
Thread veins, sometimes known as dermal flares, are very fine dilated veins that sit just beneath the surface of the skin. They are usually harmless but can be cosmetically distressing, especially when they appear on the legs, body or face. These small veins may develop on their own or alongside larger varicose veins, and although they are not dangerous, many clients choose to have them treated for aesthetic reasons or to prevent progression.
Thread vein removal involves the use of targeted treatments to collapse and fade unwanted veins. For veins on the legs and body, sclerotherapy is widely regarded as the most effective solution. This technique uses a very small injection of sclerosant to irritate the inner wall of the vein, causing it to close and gradually disappear as the body naturally absorbs it.
Facial thread veins require a different approach. Sclerosant injections are not suitable for the delicate structures of the face, so these veins are treated using either IPL or short wave diathermy, depending on their size, depth and location. Your practitioner will advise on the most effective option during your consultation.
